Volem començar expressant el nostre agraïment al dissenyador Miguel Adrover, que recentment ha posat sobre la taula la necessitat urgent de prendre partit davant el genocidi contra el poble palestí. Agraïm el seu compromís i coherència en posar la defensa dels drets humans com a eix central de la seva pràctica artística. I és des d’aquesta mirada que també ens adrecem a tu, Rosalía i a totes les artistes que us heu mantingut en silenci.
No hi ha paraules que puguin descriure l’horror que Israel està imposant a Palestina. Des d’octubre de 2023, el poble palestí està patint un genocidi sense precedents per part de l’Estat d’Israel. Si bé les xifres oficials ja parlen de més de 60.000 persones assassinades a la Franja de Gaza de 360 km2, sabem que les xifres reals són moltes més. Centenars han mort de fam —una fam imposada com arma de guerra— o per la falta de subministrament mèdic. Des del 27 de maig, gairebé 900 persones han mort assassinades a trets quan feien cua per accedir a les zones militars en què es reparteix la poca ajuda humanitària que arriba i es reparteix a Gaza. Israel ha arrassat el 80% dels habitatges. Tot i això, la comunitat internacional, en gran part, continua callant.
Aquest silenci no és casual. És fruit d’un sistema profundament racista, supremacista i colonial, que ha deshumanitzat a les persones llegides com a àrabs o musulmanes fins a tal punt que, per a moltes institucions i mitjans, aquests assassinats semblen no importar. Per això, quan una artista amb la teva visibilitat mundial guarda silenci davant d’aquest horror, aquest silenci ressona fort. I pesa, molt.
Rosalía, tens un altaveu immens que has fet servir en altres moments. Vas mostrar-te solidària amb el País Valencià després de la DANA, col·laborant amb World Central Kitchen per repartir menjar a persones afectades (una organització que també ha estat present a Gaza i de la qual Israel va assassinar set treballadors quan feien exactament el feies tu a València: repartir menjar). També vas mostrar rebuig al discurs de l’extrema dreta quan començava a créixer a l’Estat espanyol. Fent-ho has demostrat, en diverses ocasions, que tens compromís, capacitat i voluntat per posar la teva veu al servei de causes justes.
Per això, és intolerable que davant del genocidi del poble palestí no t’hagis pronunciat amb claredat. Tens la capacitat d’influir i contribuir a un canvi necessari i col·lectiu. La música no és només art: és memòria, emoció, denúncia i resistència. La música pot esdevenir una eina poderosa per fer arribar la veritat a llocs on els mitjans fallen, per obrir consciències i desmuntar narratives oficials. És precisament el silenci —especialment el de veus amb gran ressò públic— allò que permet que Israel continuï cometent aquests crims amb impunitat i complicitat internacional.
Gràcies per reconèixer el rol de la societat civil organitzada que fa temps que ens estem mobilitzant incansablement. Som part de les activistes, voluntàries, moviments i organitzacions a les que agraeixes la lluita perseverant. Nosaltres lluitem perquè sabem que la lluita del poble palestí és la lluita de tota la humanitat. A nivell estatal juntament amb la Red Solidaria Contra la Ocupación de Palestina (RESCOP) portem mesos coordinant mobilitzacions massives a tot l’Estat espanyol, entre moltes altres accions i iniciatives. Entre aquestes, hem organitzat dues cartes firmades per artistes dirigides al govern de l’estat espanyol amb un missatge clar exigint un embargament d’armes a Israel. Ambdues cartes justament apel·laven a l’obligació dels “de dalt”, els que tenen poder d’acció, a prendre mesures contundets contra el genocidi. La segona carta, signada per més de 1.200 artistes com per exemple Luís Tosar, Ester Expósito i Alba Flores va tenir un impacte tan gran que, poc després de la seva presentació pública al Teatro del Barrio de Madrid, el president del govern espanyol va anunciar que al setembre impulsaria la llei que vam registrar, la qual —si s’aprova— imposarà un embargament d’armes a Israel. Aquest és el poder que teniu les artistes.
El teu rol dins el món cultural és inqüestionable.
Per això et preguntem: quan et sumaràs al moviment per la vida i llibertat del poble palestí?
Posicionar-se pot comportar riscos. Però les causes justes requereixen coratge. El que està passant a Palestina no és una “guerra” entre iguals, ni una catàstrofe natural: és un genocidi, reconegut per organismes internacionals i expertes en drets humans. És una neteja ètnica contra el poble palestí, el qual continua resistint, ensenyant-nos una lliçó de vida i dignitat. Davant d’això, guardar silenci implica contribuir a la seva normalització, deshumanització. El que necessitem és trencar aquest silenci forçat i estendre arreu el suport popular que empenyi a les institucions perquè el poble palestí pugui viure en llibertat i dignitat a les seves terres. El que et volem fer arribar amb aquesta carta és que, després de 22 mesos de genocidi i 77 anys d’ocupació, colonialisme i apartheid, no posicionar-se clarament amb Palestina és situar-se al costat de l’opressor.
Et convidem a escoltar les veus palestines. A llegir les cartes col·lectives que hem escrit. A parlar amb altres artistes que ja han fet aquest pas; una llista cada cop més llarga. A sumar-te a una lluita que no és només per Palestina, sinó per la dignitat humana de totes nosaltres, per un futur lliure de tota opressió. No estaràs sola, som moltes les persones que fa anys que lluitem i continuarem lluitant per una Palestina lliure.
Et demanem que et sumis públicament a la nostra crida a les institucions per exigir responsabilitats i mesures contundents i urgents. A fer d’altaveu de la campanya per un embargament militar integral a Israel i el trencament de totes les relacions amb l’estat genocida i sionista.
Et demanem que et comprometis amb el boicot a Israel i t’adhereixis públicament a la crida palestina del moviment global del BDS.

Queremos comenzar expresando nuestro agradecimiento al diseñador Miguel Adrover, que recientemente ha puesto sobre la mesa la necesidad urgente de tomar partido ante el genocidio contra el pueblo palestino. Agradecemos su compromiso y coherencia al poner la defensa de los derechos humanos como eje central de su práctica artística. Y es desde esta mirada que también nos dirigimos a ti, Rosalía, y a todas las artistas que os habéis mantenido en silencio.
No hay palabras que puedan describir el horror que Israel está imponiendo en Palestina. Desde octubre de 2023, el pueblo palestino está sufriendo un genocidio sin precedentes por parte del Estado de Israel. Aunque las cifras oficiales ya hablan de más de 60.000 personas asesinadas en la Franja de Gaza, de 360 km², sabemos que las cifras reales son muchas más. Cientos han muerto de hambre —una hambre impuesta como arma de guerra— o por la falta de suministro médico. Desde el 27 de mayo, casi 900 personas han sido asesinadas a tiros mientras hacían cola para acceder a las zonas militares donde se reparte la poca ayuda humanitaria que llega a Gaza. Israel ha arrasado el 80% de las viviendas. Aun así, la comunidad internacional, en gran parte, sigue callando.
Este silencio no es casual. Es fruto de un sistema profundamente racista y colonial, que ha deshumanizado a las personas árabes o musulmanas hasta tal punto que, para muchas instituciones y medios, estos asesinatos parecen no importar. Por eso, cuando una artista con tu visibilidad mundial guarda silencio ante este horror, ese silencio resuena con fuerza. Y pesa, mucho.
Rosalía, tienes un altavoz inmenso que has utilizado en otros momentos. Mostraste tu solidaridad con el País Valencià tras la DANA, colaborando con World Central Kitchen para repartir comida a personas afectadas (una organización que también ha estado presente en Gaza y cuyos siete trabajadores fueron asesinados por Israel cuando hacían exactamente lo que tú hacías en València: repartir comida). También mostraste rechazo al discurso de la extrema derecha cuando comenzaba a crecer en el Estado español. Haciendo esto, has demostrado en varias ocasiones que tienes compromiso, capacidad y voluntad para poner tu voz al servicio de causas justas.
Por eso, es intolerable que ante el genocidio del pueblo palestino no te hayas pronunciado con claridad. Tienes la capacidad de influir y contribuir a un cambio necesario y colectivo. La música no es solo arte: es memoria, emoción, denuncia y resistencia. La música puede convertirse en una herramienta poderosa para hacer llegar la verdad a lugares donde los medios fallan, para abrir conciencias y desmontar narrativas oficiales. Es precisamente el silencio —especialmente el de voces con gran eco mediático— lo que permite que Israel siga cometiendo estos crímenes con impunidad y complicidad internacional.
Gracias por reconocer el rol de la sociedad civil organizada que desde hace tiempo nos estamos movilizando incansablemente. Somos parte de las activistas, voluntarias, movimientos y organizaciones a quienes agradeces la lucha perseverante. Nosotras luchamos porque sabemos que la lucha del pueblo palestino es la lucha de toda la humanidad. A nivel estatal conjuntamente con la Red Solidaria Contra la Ocupación de Palestina (RESCOP) llevamos meses coordinando movilizaciones masivas en todo el Estado español, entre muchas otras acciones e iniciativas. Ambas cartas apelaban justamente a la obligación de “los de arriba”, quienes tienen poder de acción, para que tomen medidas contundentes contra el genocidio. La segunda carta, firmada por más de 1.200 artistas —entre ellas Lluís Tosar, Ester Expósito y Alba Flores—, tuvo un impacto tan grande que, poco después de su presentación pública en el Teatro del Barrio de Madrid, el presidente del Gobierno español anunció que en septiembre impulsaría la ley que registramos, la cual —si se aprueba— impondrá un embargo de armas a Israel. Este es el poder que tenéis las artistas.

Lo que está pasando en Palestina no es una “guerra” entre iguales, ni una catástrofe natural: es un genocidio, reconocido por organismos internacionales y expertas en derechos humanos. Es una limpieza étnica contra el pueblo palestino, que continúa resistiendo, enseñándonos una lección de vida y dignidad. Ante esto, guardar silencio implica contribuir a su normalización y deshumanización. Lo que necesitamos es romper este silencio forzado y extender por todas partes el apoyo popular que empuje a las instituciones para que el pueblo palestino pueda vivir en libertad y dignidad en sus tierras. Lo que queremos transmitirte con esta carta es que, después de 22 meses de genocidio y 77 años de ocupación, colonialismo y apartheid, no posicionarse claramente con Palestina es situarse del lado del opresor.
Te invitamos a escuchar las voces palestinas. A leer las cartas colectivas que hemos escrito. A hablar con otras artistas que ya han dado este paso; una lista cada vez más larga. A sumarte a una lucha que no es solo por Palestina, sino por la dignidad humana de todas nosotras, por un futuro libre de toda opresión. We want to begin by expressing our gratitude to designer Miguel Adrover, who has recently brought to the table the urgent need to take a stand against the genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people. We appreciate his commitment and consistency in placing the defense of human rights at the center of his artistic practice. And it is from this perspective that we also address you, Rosalía, and all the artists who have remained silent.
There are no words that can describe the horror that Israel is inflicting on Palestine. Since October 2023, the Palestinian people have been suffering an unprecedented genocide by the State of Israel. While official figures report over 60,000 people killed in the Gaza Strip — an area of just 360 km² — we know the real numbers are much higher. Hundreds have died of hunger — famine used as a weapon of war — or due to lack of medical supplies. Since May 27, nearly 900 people have been shot and killed while queuing for access to military zones where the little humanitarian aid that reaches Gaza is distributed. Israel has destroyed 80% of homes. And yet, much of the international community remains silent.
This silence is not accidental. It is the result of a deeply racist and colonial system that has dehumanised people perceived as Arab or Muslim to such an extent that, for many institutions and media outlets, these killings seem not to matter. That’s why, when an artist with your global visibility remains silent in the face of this horror, that silence resonates loudly. And it weighs heavily.
Rosalía, you have a massive platform that you’ve used in the past. You showed solidarity with the Valencian region after the DANA storms, collaborating with World Central Kitchen to deliver food to affected communities -an organisation that has also been present in Gaza and whose seven workers were murdered by Israel while doing exactly what you were doing in Valencia: distributing food. You also took a stand against the far-right’s discourse as it began gaining ground in Spain. In doing so, you’ve shown, on multiple occasions, that you have the commitment, ability, and willingness to use your voice in service of just causes.
That’s why it is intolerable that, in the face of the genocide of the Palestinian people, you have not spoken out clearly. You have the power to influence and contribute to a necessary, collective shift. Music is not just art: it is memory, emotion, protest, and resistance. Music can be a powerful tool to bring truth to places where media fails, to open minds and dismantle official narratives. And it is precisely silence —especially the silence of public figures— that allows Israel to continue committing these crimes with international complicity and impunity.
Thank you for recognising the role of organised civil society, which has been tirelessly mobilising for a long time. We are part of the activists, volunteers, movements, and organisations to whom you give thanks for persevering. We fight because we know the struggle of the Palestinian people is the struggle of all humanity. Together with RESCOP, the Solidarity Network against the occupation of Palestine, we have spent months coordinating mass mobilisations across all of Spain, among many other actions and initiatives. Among these, we organised two letters signed by artists and addressed to the Spanish government with a clear message demanding an arms embargo on Israel. Both letters called on those in power —those with the ability to act— to take decisive action to stop the genocide. The second letter, signed by more than 1,200 artists —including Lluís Tosar, Ester Expósito and Alba Flores— had such a major impact that, shortly after its public presentation at Teatro del Barrio in Madrid, the president of the Spanish government announced that in September he would push forward the law we had registered, which —if passed— will impose an arms embargo on Israel. That is the power artists hold.
Your role in the cultural world is undeniable.
That’s why we ask you: When will you join the movement for the life and freedom of the Palestinian people?
Taking a stand may come with risks. But just causes require courage. What’s happening in Palestine is not a “war” between equals, nor a natural disaster: it is a genocide, recognised by international organisations and human rights experts. It is an ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, who continue to resist and teach us lessons of life and dignity. In the face of this, remaining silent contributes to its normalisation and dehumanisation. What we need is to break this forced silence and spread popular support far and wide, to pressure institutions so the Palestinian people can live in freedom and dignity on their land. What we want to express with this letter is that, after 22 months of genocide and 77 years of occupation, colonialism, and apartheid, failing to take a clear stand with Palestine is aligning oneself with the oppressor.

To join a struggle that is not only for Palestine, but for the human dignity of all of us, for a future free from oppression.
